I Really Want to go to Japan
Wed, 03/26/2008 - 02:18
The flight is a little long from New York but I think that visiting Japan or anywhere else in Asia would be a great experience. The culture of Japan is much different than America and Europe. I am also really into technology and that is also something to experience in Japan.
I have seen pictures of Mount Fuji and it looks unbelievable. Tokyo looks like a fun city to visit and I also want to check out the traditional destinations such as the castles and gardens. Spring seems to be a great time to visit Japan because of the temperature and the cherry blossoms are in bloom. They also seem to have one of the worlds best transportation systems by train so getting around shouldn’t be difficult. Getting a rail pass looks like the most economic way to go and you can take the train an unlimited amount of times. Most Japanese have studied English for at least 6 years which is nice. The food in Japan is supposed to be amazing and I certainly want to experience that as well.
The hotels in Japan sound really interesting. There are fairly normal hotels, capsule hotels and Ryokan (traditional Japanese Inns). The capsule hotels look interesting, not sure if I would enjoy staying there but maybe for one night. They look really claustrophobic and there can be a bunch of capsules in the same room or hallway. The Ryokan Inns look like a really interesting experience. They are very traditional old school Japan looking and you have to follow customs and etiquette while staying there. Most don’t even accept foreigners but there are some that specialize in tourists. They seem to be fairly expensive though and some look like they cater to the rich.
Visiting Japan seems like it would be really interesting trip. My friends aren’t as into going to Japan but I am trying to convince them. I will definitely go there eventually with or without my friends. I would also like to visit other places in Asia but it looks like I can fill a normal vacation with just visiting Japan.
